Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Peeps (Printable)

Fluffy marshmallow chicks enveloped in smooth chocolate for a sweet, festive delight.

# What You'll Need:

→ Marshmallow Peeps

01 - 12 marshmallow Peeps chick-shaped any color

→ Chocolate Coating

02 - 7 oz semi-sweet or milk chocolate chopped or chocolate chips
03 - 1 tbsp coconut oil or unsalted butter optional for smoother coating

→ Decorations optional

04 - Sprinkles colored sugars or crushed nuts

# How-To Steps:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking during the chilling process.
02 - Combine chocolate and coconut oil if using in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals stirring between each until melted and smooth. Alternatively melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water using a double boiler method.
03 - Hold each Peep by the base or use a fork to dip into the melted chocolate covering all sides completely. Allow excess chocolate to drip off for an even coating.
04 - Place coated Peeps on the prepared baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with decorations before the chocolate sets if desired.
05 - Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes or until the chocolate coating is completely firm to the touch.
06 - Serve chilled or bring to room temperature before serving. Store in an airtight container in a cool place.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The contrast between crunchy chocolate and pillowy marshmallow is ridiculously satisfying
  • These disappear faster than you can make them, so consider doubling the batch
02 -
  • If the chocolate starts to seize up, add another teaspoon of coconut oil and stir gently
  • Room temperature Peeps work better than cold ones, which can make the chocolate harden too fast
03 -
  • Work quickly once the chocolate is melted, or transfer to a warm bowl to keep it fluid
  • If your hands get sticky, keep a bowl of warm water nearby to clean fingers between dips
